The makers of
Sundar C’s Sangamithra recently announced that Bollywood girl
Disha Patani will be playing the title role in the trilingual film, which stars
Jayam Ravi and
Arya in the lead. Now that the cast is in place, we hear the team will start shooting for it from end of December.
A source in the know tells us, “The film’s first look was unveiled at Cannes early in May, with the whole team, including
Shruti Haasan — who was cast in the lead — present at the red carpet.
However, Shruti opted out and the makers started scouting for an actress who could do justice to the role of a warrior princess. Their hunt came to an end with Disha, who has done several Bollywood films, including the multilingual Kung Fu Yoga with Jackie Chan! Now that the entire team is in place, the team is hoping to start shooting by end of December or early next year.”
Sundar C is presently shooting for Kalakalappu 2 in Varanasi. The source adds, “He will be wrapping up shoot of the Jiiva-Jai-starrer in the second week of December. The CG work on Sangamithra is already underway, with a team dedicatedly sending the director the template and other details on a regular basis. Ravi and Arya have been training for their roles and Disha has also begun prepping for her character.”
